Preserving Lodi’s historic hardwood floors
Older hardwood carries the character of the building around it. Our approach to historical hardwood floor restoration in Lodi begins with respect for that existing material and a careful assessment of the floor. Preserving sound original boards, discussing repair options, and choosing an appropriate level of treatment are central to our work.

A landmark in Lodi’s civic history
Built in 1912, the historic Lodi Firehouse originally served as the city’s municipal building, bringing City Hall and the Fire Department together. The first City Council meeting in the new building took place on August 5, 1912.
The original layout included city offices and fire equipment on the ground floor, with a meeting room and firefighters’ sleeping quarters upstairs. After City Hall relocated in 1928, the Fire Department continued using the building until 1981. This long history gives context to Grain House Hardwood’s recent restoration work and our commitment to preserving original and historic hardwood floors.

A client’s perspective on the craftsmanship
“After employing a number of different contractors over the years, Johnny Floyd is the only hardwood flooring professional I will work with. His responsiveness, attention to detail, and craftsmanship are unparalleled. He has transformed both residential and commercial properties for me, taking floors that are over 100 years old and making them showpieces.”
