Indoor basketball court with a wood sport floor and painted game markings

Gymnasium & Sport Hardwood Floor Maintenance & Refinishing

Gymnasium and hardwood sport-floor maintenance and refinishing are a primary Grain House Hardwood specialty. Our two service categories are refinishing and maintenance for real wood courts and recreation spaces. Refinishing can include full sanding, board repairs, and agreed game lines and logos. Maintenance includes deep clean and screen recoating for qualifying existing finishes. Stockton and Lodi are our primary service area within San Joaquin County. Hardwood sport floors need a plan that considers use, markings, finish condition, and time away from play.

Choose the scope around the court's condition

Gym floor maintenance

Deep clean and screen recoating

A sound, compatible coating may qualify for deep clean and screen recoat. Annual maintenance deep clean and screen recoating combines professional cleaning, screening or wet abrasion, and fresh finish coats to renew protection without the wood-removal process of full sanding. Gym floor recoating is planned around coating wear, cleaning history, compatibility, and adhesion. Basketball court floor maintenance helps preserve the existing wood and game markings when the surface qualifies for recoating. We review cleaning products, wax or polish contamination, coating adhesion and high-wear areas before recommending the preparation and finish system. Annual maintenance is a planning discussion; use and condition determine when the floor needs attention.

Gym floor refinishing and basketball court refinishing

Gymnasium floor refinishing and basketball court refinishing may be appropriate when wear reaches the wood, significant damage needs repair, or the surface and game markings need a fresh start. Our dust-controlled hybrid sanding uses minimal belt passes with planetary finishing and edge detailing. We assess remaining wood, repairs, existing finish, and planned activities before recommending full hardwood gym floor refinishing and a suitable finish system.

Board repairs

Loose or damaged material deserves attention before coatings and markings. Review hardwood repair options and tell us about any active moisture or movement issues.

Game lines, court markings & logos

Game-line painting, court markings, and sport-floor logos are part of our hardwood sport-floor refinishing services. Basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and badminton layouts can involve overlapping markings. Provide the current layout and any requested changes. Confirm the drawing, colors, scope, and applicable requirements before work begins; do not assume an existing layout is correct simply because it is already painted.

Commercial hardwood floor maintenance & refinishing

Gymnasium and hardwood sport floors are our primary commercial specialty. We also care for appropriate real wood floors in meeting halls, ballrooms, churches, event spaces, recreation facilities, exercise rooms, veteran halls, and other commercial spaces in Stockton and Lodi, within San Joaquin County.

Commercial hardwood floor maintenance starts with the condition of the wood and existing finish, traffic, cleaning history, and available closure time. A sound, compatible surface may qualify for a deep clean and screen recoat. Where wear or damage calls for more extensive work, we assess full sanding and refinishing, hardwood repairs and board replacement, and a suitable finish system. Remaining wood, moisture, and movement guide the scope.

Game lines and logos apply to courts and activity areas where requested; meeting halls, ballrooms, and other commercial wood floors are assessed around their own use. Older commercial floors may also benefit from our historical hardwood floor restoration approach. Share the facility use, floor photos, approximate area, event schedule, and downtime window so we can discuss an appropriate plan.

Schedule for the facility, not just the coating day

Share available closure dates, floor area, access arrangements, equipment or seating obstacles, and the date activities need to resume. Preparation, coating, drying, and cure requirements should be part of the plan. Return-to-play timing depends on the selected finish system and conditions.

What should a gym floor maintenance plan include?

Keep a record of the finish system, compatible cleaning products, inspections and previous recoats. Discuss wear at entrances, bleachers and activity areas before it reaches bare wood. Your facility proposal should identify preparation, finish coats, access arrangements and the required closure window. A maintenance recoat protects a qualifying surface; full refinishing addresses the wood and may involve rebuilding court markings.

Experience rooted in the trade
